The far right has been on the rise across Europe for many years. In Greece neo-Nazi Golden Dawn politicians have been jailed, but the underlying conditions which led to the rise of far right politics remain. From Hungary’s Victor Orbarn to the Law and Justice Party in Poland, anti-refugee politics and extreme nationalism have dominated in the wake of decades of neoliberalism.
What is spurring the growth of these extreme reactionary politics? What tactics should socialists use to combat their rise? This session will look at the rise of far right and authoritarian politics across Europe, featuring an anti-fascist socialist guest speaker from Greece.
