This session is available in Sydney and Melbourne.
The Black Lives Matter movement shook the world in 2020. It raised fundamental questions about the structural roots of racism, the role of the police and what will be needed to end oppression. In Australia the incarceration of refugees, the ongoing oppression of Indigenous people, rampant islamophobia and the rise of anti-Chinese rhetoric show that racism is at the core of our society. What is the connection between racism and capitalism? Who benefits from racist institutions? And how could it be smashed? This session will be an introduction to the Marxist analysis of racism and strategy for liberating the oppressed.
