Early Australian Trotskyism

12:00pm Friday 2 September

About this session

Trotsky’s critique provided a principled political foundation for the struggle against Stalinism. Those who organised to keep revolutionary Marxist ideas alive in the face of Stalinism are part of the tradition in which socialists today stand. This talk will explore the early history of Trotskyism in Australia, from the early days when anti-Stalinists expelled from the commuinist party began organising, to their union activity and the political arguments which laid the basis for future Trotskyist organisation in Australia.
