About this session

November 2022 saw the biggest strike in US universities in history, with 48,000 workers at the University of California on strike for 6 weeks, and winning substantial pay increases. It was the biggest strike all year in the US. Strikes have continued across other campuses since. Meanwhile, university workers in Australia are engaged in bargaining across the country, with 9 days of strikes recently concluding at Sydney University, and other campuses beginning industrial action. This session, presented by leading union activists, will discuss the class struggle in our universities, what is causing campuses to increasingly become battlegrounds, and the lessons we can draw about how to fight and win.
