After two hard years of an Albanese goverment, it seems there is no right wing policy that Labor won’t pursue. Billions spent on weapons of war, backing Israel’s genocide in Gaza and attacking refugees, all while overseeing a historic attack on worker’s living standards amidst a cost of living crisis. Are Labor’s right wing policies dictated by what is acceptable to the Murdoch press? Is it simply reflecting what voters want? Does the Albanese government mark a break with the party’s past? This session will take a Marxist understanding of Labor as a capitalist workers party as a starting point to explain contemporary Labor and how socialists should respond.
