Chloe Rafferty

President of the Wollongong University Students' Association

Chloe Rafferty is a student activist and the Wollongong University Students’ Association. She has led a range of campaigns in Wollongong, everything from the successful “Save the Free Shuttle” campaign to actions opposing the Ramsay Centre.  In late 2018 it came to light that the UOW management had secretly accepted a Ramsay Centre-funded degree in Western Civilisation without any staff or student consultations. Chloe immediately organised a response, highlighting the attacks on academic freedom and the social conservative nature of the Ramsay centre, which is led by John Howard and includes Tony Abbott in its board. Chloe has also engaged students and staff at UOW in protest action against the destruction of the environment and the building of the Adani coal mine.
