What is socialism anyway?

10:00am Sunday 6 September

About this session

More and more people are identifying as socialists and looking towards an alternative to the rotten system of capitalism. But this raises the question: what is socialism? There are many different visions of socialism, from Scandinavian welfare states to the “Communist regimes” where the government owned everything. Marxists have a different vision of socialism. Our vision centres the collective, democratic self-emancipation of the working class and requires a revolutionary rupture with capitalism and its institutions.

This session will explore how this socialist society could work, and how it could solve the problems of capitalism.
